School History
.
In 1976 Professor Yusuf Da Costa opened the doors of his new school. At first referred to as Steenberg Number Two. As there was already a School in the area named Steenberg High the name was later changed to Crestway, officially known as Crestway Secondary. In terms of the Government policy of the day, it was specifically laid down that there was to be no prejudice in terms of colour, creed or gender. The then principal soon made a name for himself insisting on discipline and good grooming. Professor Da Costa was a strict disciplinarian, and dedicated to the academic advancement of the underprivileged.
At Crestway High School we strive to create a warm, caring, safe and stimulating environment that empowers and nurtures learners to develop their full potential through holistic education which will enable them as citizens to assume a meaningful role in society.
